Firefighters

So, I volunteer at Rainbows (which is Girlguiding, for those of you who don't know) and today we had some visitors. Firefighters!! And yes, they are firefighters, not firemen. We found out a lot of interesting things; It takes around 8 weeks to train, We learnt how to use the hose - all the girls got to have a go. We learnt that the average shift is ten hours That they attend more car accidents than house fires And that they are no longer taught, in training, to do the famous fireman's lift!! It was thoroughly interesting, so I'd like to thank the four guys that visited us; they were really great with the girls and had great senses of humour! Thankyou London Fire Brigade for everything that you do! Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

'Manners Maketh Man'

I am an absolute sucker for manners. The above quote is supposed to teach us that if someone was to do to us what we had done to another, it would cause chaos... but why can't we make it a little more positive and maybe change it to  but maybe that's where our problem lies, some people throw kind to the wind and just shrug it off. Please don't be one of those people.. Being kind is a value that the world should see more! One of the rare things I get annoyed by is when someone doesn't say please and thank-you, perhaps it's because I can't fathom why it's so hard.  So, here is my plea; going into this great year of 2016, journey with manners! Thankyou Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine
