Lush Review - Lava Lamp Bath Bomb

Image
The Lava Lamp Bath Bomb What a perfect name for this bath bomb, it does exactly what it says on the tin. It is literally a lava lamp in bath bomb form, so if you're a fan of the Lava lamp trend, then this could be for you! In its dry state the ballistic is such a bold orange, you cant help but smile, and the purple spots only accentuate this bright colouring. The colour is instantaneously transferred to the water as soon as it makes contact, which is always exciting to see! The pictures honestly don't do the bath bomb justice. at. all. It wasn't yellow at all in real life! The orange part of the bath bomb fizzed out much more quickly than the purple which left them floating and melting by themselves. The purple melted down and sat atop the water much like an oil would..  This preceded the Lava Lamp intentions of the Bath Ballistic, which was the most impressive part of the entire bath bomb (not including the initial colour burst).

Who Remembers?

Who remembers when using Facebook was the coolest way of communicating? and before that it was msn messenger... Who remembers not having a curfew but just knowing to head home when the streetlights turned on? Who remembers being able to knock on any door on the block if someone got hurt? Who remembers waking up at the crack of dawn and knowing that someone would already be out playing? Who remembers the good ol' days? Its a shame that only people over 15 remember such things... But for those of us that do, cheers to the times that only we remember, cheers to the times before technology *holds up drink* Stay Excellent -Chantal DeHaine

Book Review/recommendation – Night Owls by Jenn Bennett

Image
“Its books like this that inspire me to write even more!” is the first thing I said to my Mum after finishing this book. Can you tell I liked it? No doubt it’s made my favourites list. Not only does it inspire me to write; the euphoric feeling I get, during and after reading a book like this one, reminds me why I read! Being able to read is everything to me and honestly if I had to choose one skill to live with for the rest of my life, reading would be it. (This I could talk about for an hour, but back to the book) I can usually tell within the first few chapters if I’m going to like a book – occasionally I’m wrong, but most of the time I’m right.. With Night Owls, I knew by the 6 th page! Bennett has witty, mildly-philosophical banter down to a T, which makes her writing even more enjoyable – but maybe that’s because I studied philosophy with force, so any reference I can put some understanding into makes me feel even more involved with the story. Also I ha

All Creatures Great And Small

Image
It honestly astounds me that this world of ours has so many variations of breathing and non-breathing life. How incredible is it that all of the things we see around us, from the grass to the tigers, have evolved from one tiny cell? It astounds me even more, however when our world and theirs peacefully intertwine.. Yesterday I was on a walk with mum and without any warning a beetle just scuttled across the pavement, as though it were blocking our path. Of course, we just stepped passed it, hardly even noticing it was there, until I saw it move; I had to backtrack and snap this picture. Not only did he try to stop us in our tracks but he was ready to have a full blown fight with us; look at all that armour! What does it say about us, the fact that we have jelly skin as protection? That we’re so strong and mighty in the animal kingdom that we don’t need any armour or that we’re just completely unprepared? We would be no competition for that beetle if we were the same s

Quick Update

How is it that when someone really feels like writing, they cant think of anything to write but this? A crazy kind of writers block I guess.. So, quick update; exams are finished, the job hunt has started, still haven’t used Pythagoras’ theorem, we’ve just left the EU and the sun is bi-polar. Also I’m hungry.. The latter very vital information for you I’m sure XD Anyway I hope you’re well, Stay Excellent Chantal DeHaine

Lush Review - Twilight Bath Bomb

Image
The Twilight bath bomb.     Plop.. Fizzle Brainnnn Soapy Swirls Floating Spaceship Jellyfish Thing Boring Soapy Residue Jellyfish Snake Jellyfish Alien Shiny water Purpleish Tint Okay, so not your average review, more some pictures with strange words underneath... Its different I guess?! I would make the assumption (if I saw this page) that the user wasn't very impressed with the bath bomb, if you too, made that assumption - then you would be correct! Honestly I didn't think this ballistic was anything special..  It takes a long time to fizz, which is always a bonus and unless you want an extremely short bath, much appreciated. There was a lot of pink going on with some blue (as you can see in the jellyfish) and I noticed a fair few specs of yellow. And a hell of a lot of glitter!!! If you're not a fan of glitter, you won't like this bath bomb.  However with such a strong set of colours in the actua

Deadlines

Recently, I've had a lot of deadlines. Some I was dreading and some (well, one) I was really looking forward to, and it got me thinking.. The funny thing about deadlines is that they actually only take up about a second of our time. You see,, because the work leading up to them takes up such a lot of our time, we trick ourselves into thinking that the actual deadline is a lot longer. Our 'deadlines' are only really the second it takes you to click that "submit" button on your computer or the passing of work to whoever it's for. But that deadline, that second of time can provide so much relief. Or such a great sense of failure. Depending on whether you meet it or not.. But in the long run they help us get things done - for this we couldn't ask for anything greater, even though at times we hate them! So good luck for your next deadline *fingers crossed* Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

Favourite Plants - BBLC

Image
I honestly think that nature is beauty. So to name all of my favourite plants would take a lifetime, so how about I name twelve?! Oak Tree Bluebells (hence the name XD) Daffodils Grass - Grass is always overlooked but think about how bland the earth would look if we didn't have grass... Words I Hate - BBLC

I tend to plan all of my blog posts before I write them, and definitely did for this month's challenge, but why on earth I ever thought this was an appropriate topic for me to write about is beyond me... I think words/language are the greatest invention of the human race! So no, I don't hate any words. Nuff said. #shortblogpost Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

Food I Dislike - BBLC

Anyone who knows me can tell you that I'm a fairly fussy eater - always have been. I've even been described as 'very english' when it comes to food, which I presume applies to the facts that I like plain food and am not a great fan of spice; I get plain-ish at Nando's...  but I'm getting better, I think!! XD Back to the list; Food I don't like; Tomatoes - although I love Ketchup so.... Prawns - eugh, I can just gag thinking about them not a great fan of Aubergine Pickles (extreme) Spice - In. Anything. There's my top 5! Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

Favourite Patterns - BBLC

Image
So, incase you didn't know, I'm quite a creative person and a while back I came across Zentangling!! This is a form of art that uses structured patterns to create miniature pieces of art, and of course I had to try it myself - it is definitely my favourite style of pattern. There is no comparison! Here are some of my Zentangles; ^ this one is my favourite!! *Heart eye emoji* I just realised the position of my hand doesn't change in any of the pictures, ahha!! Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

People I'd want to meet if I got the chance - BBLC

I'm a little sceptical about this topic, mainly because what if I met them and they weren't as amazing as I thought they'd be? Kate Winslet Ghandi Buddha Erin Hanson (ThePoeticUnderground) Emma Watson Shakespeare Adele Plato Actually, on second thoughts I bet these lovely people are just as incredible as I imagine they are!! Who would you want to meet?  Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

Favourite Boys Names - BBLC

It wouldn't have been very fair if I did my favourite girls names and not my favourite boys names.. 1. (again the classics are always a good choice) Jack, James, John, 2. I have to admit I am a fan of boys names that end in an 'er'; Hunter for example 3. And classic names that can be shortened; Edward - Ed, Eddy, Ted 4, Then there's the names that are completely unusual like 'Cosmo' Which I have to admit I don't think my Gran would approve of XD What are your favourite boys names? Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

'Guilty' Pleasures - BBLC

Image
So, I don't have any pleasures that I should be guilty for, nor should you - Who is to say that we should feel guilty for things we enjoy?? But for the sake of the list - I'll write things that I guess people could judge you for (although we should never judge ) and hence they would call them 'Guilty' pleasures.. Disney - In general, Disney isn't considered a Guilty pleasure but from the perspective that I'm 19 years old and still enjoy disney I guess it could.. but you know what - I love Disney and always will #proud,  Laughing when you're not supposed to - it a categoric 'guilty pleasure - because you can't stop laughing (when you're not supposed too) for which you feel guilty. XD Skipping school - (for whatever reason) It feels so good, yet so wrong.. What are your guilty pleasures? Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

Favourite Words? - BBLC

This post I doubt will be much of a list because I just don't think I could choose any favourite words... Any words that have meaning (to me) are no doubt higher up the list, but I couldn't pick a top one or even a top ten for that matter! The only thing I feel needs saying, is that I believe that the invention of words was 100% the most valuable invention ever! Nuff Said. Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

Favourite Girls Names - BBLC

Now, it would be totally wrong for me to not be bias for this list and have my name at the top.. Chantal DeHaine But other than that I can't really say. I mean, yes, I've already chosen what my first daughter is going to be called, but you can't know that yet... Classic names are always a winner, you really can't go wrong with an Elizabeth or a Nancy. And a lot of the more traditional names are coming back into fashion - Margaret, Florence and Ethel for example. Or tradition can be completely contradicted by the more Unusual names of the twenty-first century; i.e. Monroe and Juniper, or just being named after general items of weather or random objects really.. But in general - I find it's the people who make their name and not the other way round!! What's your favourite Girls Name? Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

Favourite Scents - BBLC

Image
When I saw this heading on the list challenge, I was apprehensive because it doesn't seem like I've ever payed that much attention to smell. I mean, yes, I wear perfume and all that jazz but my 'favourite scent'? However, without realising or particularly choosing scented things, there's a running theme for all things smelly amongst my possessions. I light Green Apple scented candles in my room, my shampoo is Green Apple and the air freshener in my car is Green Apple... Thus I think it's fair to say that my favourite scent is Green Apple!! Although you can never really go wrong with Vanilla - of which I also have a surplus of in candle form.. Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

Who would I mind read? - BBLC

If I had the ability to read minds there's only 5 people I'd want to read... Albert Einstein - I'm sure there was some great stuff going on in that head of his.. Queen Elizabeth - What does it take to rule a country? Plato - I can imagine being astonished by his pure brilliance Descartes - 'I think, therefore I am'  Buddha - all that wisdom in one place... Who would you want to read?? Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

Things you could do today - BBLC

You could; Skydive Write a really short blog post, like this one XD Run Watch a movie Have a bubble bath Rock climb Fly across the world Sleep Buy someone flowers Read a good book Drive to the beach Today you could change your life - really, there's nothing stopping you!! Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine

If I could time travel... - BBLC

Image
If only I could travel through the 'time-y wimey stuff' oh the things I would do and the things I would see... I would travel to the beginning of time just to see its creation.  I would watch the great blaze spread across london and tell the baker it wasn't his fault. I would go and ask Einstein where he got his ideas. I would ask Shakespeare how he actually spelt his name or whether he just changed it to confuse people. I would discover who wrote the bible I would thank whoever created the first words I would have afternoon tea with Henry VIII and barely escape a beheading I would march with the suffragettes I would thank Sir Baden Powell for the Girl Guides I would not dabble with the future. What will you do when they create time travel? Stay Excellent - Chantal DeHaine
