*Applauds 2014*

This is the third time I've tried rewording, retyping, heck, reshaping this post and I think that pretty much sums up life, you try and try but why is it the good, the bad they all come in threes, so hopefully this, the third new year post I've written this afternoon, turns out to be good. Isn't it strange how life as we see it, or more specifically, how I see it, is constantly changing - whether it be for better or worse, for richer for poorer... ... Okay lets not make a marriage vow, but how cliche that I should be writing something that is supposed to be a great sort of reflection of the last year, turns out to be something so urgh, uninspiring?  I apologise. So lets just put it this way, don't fret over the last year if its been tough, but don't try and stay in the year if it was incredible either, because there is bound to be something better around the corner.  Lets wonder into the new year surrounded by those we love and not worry too much abo

Inspiring!

Yesterday, I was told my blog was inspiring, And quite simply it made me smile, Its a strange thing when people read your work and say they enjoy it; before I started this blog I'd only ever show my writings to a select few people so I rarely got any feedback I wasn't expecting. But you just have to have the confidence. Have the confidence in everything you do because you honestly have nothing to lose, whether its like me with my writing; the worst you can get is some constructive criticism, or in romance; if the person you like doesn't want something to happen they'll tell you so take that chance, or even in your school work; if you are confident that you've done your best then no one can bring you down - you shouldn't let them. And I know you're gonna be amazing! Our lives are ours to create and decorate, we can do whatever we want, the laws are there for our protection but whats a little risk if you're having fun? But don't go and kill

Gone With The Wind...

So yesterday, me and mum had one of those amazing chill days when you just lounge around in trackies doing little jobs and watching telly and we watched Gone with the Wind. Gone with the Wind is a 4 hour film, but its well worth the watch. Its an old film set in America during the Civil War and focuses on the 'life of petulant southern belle Scarlett O'hara'. And it got me thinking... During the film Scarlett gets married three times, the first time to someone to make another man jealous, to the second for money and for the third love (I think). But I just think that Marriage really is one of the beauties of our past and its a shame that people don't value it as much anymore. Honestly I think it is amazing how people married and it really was a promise that they kept. They lived in an age, in which, if something was broken they would fix it and not just take the easy way out! And I think that our generation really could learn from past generations, everyone seem

F*** Education - uncensored rant about the screwed up system of 'Education'

Do we really need education??                                                   No. We need to learn, to be taught how to learn, to love what we learn about! so many teenagers have put themselves under such stress and hurt - just because our society is dependant on ALevel's to tell us how intelligent and how capable for a job we are. And when do we ever use the things we learnt about. I'm not joking; I'd love for one adult, who hasn't pursued a career in maths or science, to tell me when they have once in their life used any of the equations they learnt in maths or the scientific expressions they learnt in science... Okay so I didn't do too well in my exams at AS and was distraught and hated myself for a while because I couldn't understand what I'd done wrong! I'd done all the required revision (and I'm not lying - I actually did because at that point some part of me actually wanted to go to university or just to have that option) a

Autumn

It hard to believe that it's still autumn and winter doesn't start until December the 21st... I'm already in my cosy woolly jumpers and I'm using a blanket when sitting on the sofa watching telly. And I think this weather calls for the daily use of at least a scarf. Autumn just amazes me and it's definitely my favourite season, the colour of the earth becomes so much more dramatic, yet calming. The leaves take flight and land in piles that produce that almighty crunch, the wind increases its speed; sending a chill through the atmosphere and the world feels peaceful. Hope you're all enjoying Autumn as much as me... Stay Excellent - thegirlwiththekey

Hoorayy for the nothing days!!

Hey, so I haven't blogged in a few days - it was my bestest friends 18th birthday so I was preparing for her special day, I hope you had the greatest day ever Sarah - love youuuuuu!! But anyway, today I've had a day off because my lack of sleep has drained me! And thus going to school would be silly as my quality of work would be unsatisfactory and all that jazz! But I just thought I'd write a little about the spontaneous days off that turn out to be the most relaxing. You gotta love them because yes you have to catch up on the work you miss, but I think everyone forgets actually how much you can get done if you don't go to school. The days can be so productive, as long as you don't just watch telly. You can wear the clothes you are most comfy in, with your hair in a bun and just do all sorts, for example I actually tidied my room and surfed the interwebs for an hour or two, enjoyed my lunch at 11;30 and read a few chapters of The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia A

I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST!!!!

Image
So today, test day!  The day started off, slightly panicked; I couldn't find my license ( which you need to do your test ) and thus panicked for a little while before my driving instructor picked me up. I got in the car and we went over the show me tell me questions, two of which are asked by the examiner and then set off driving. It was a very calm drive down to the test centre and we were a little early, so we drove around for a bit and then I did a bay park in the test centre! And at 11:11 I had my test!  We went into the test centre and sat down; no sign in was needed, we just sat there. And the the examiner came out and called my name, asked me to show him my license, asked me to sign a sheet and we then went out to the car!  He asked me to open the bonnet and to answer the two show me tell me questions which I answered correctly! And then told me to get in the car!  He gave his introduction into the test and then said that the independent part of the test would begin then. &#

New Piercings!!

Image
So I went to Westfield on Thursday and me and my friend Yasi got some new piercings!! :D We went with 6 other friends but split so that we could go and get our piercings done. It was a 5 minute walk from Westfield Stratford and there was a queue but it went down very quickly - so within 20 minutes of getting there it was my turn. I walked into the room and told the lady I wanted a microdermal in my wrist and a side transverse lobe piercing! She sat me down marked my wrist, numbed it, I looked away and it was done, woooo! I have a wrist piercing! I then began to feel a little faint so I sat down in front of the cold fan whilst Yasi had her cheek pierced (again :P ) and her Medusa bar changed! I then sat down in the piercing chair again, she numbed my ear and I was again pierced with a new ear piercing!! So yeah I now have the grand total of 8 body piercings; 7 in my ears and 1 in my wrist! NewWristPiercing-30.10.2014 The reasons I have so many piercings - personal prefere

Half Term

I think there is one thing all students can agree with - Half Term is never long enough!!  It always annoys me that when you're just getting into the swing of things and have finally adjusted to your new sleeping pattern that its time to go back to school.  When you're having fun time always goes so fast but when you're bored out of your mind (and I know its said a lot - but its true) time goes SO slowly.  Theres nothing worse than thinking too much about all the work you still have to do, when it gets to the day before school starts! Too many times have I lost sleep over dreading work, and it just isn't worth it, if you think about it we're still children and growing up is optional folks, we should play until we fall! and not waste our time doing silly holiday projects about subjects we are never going to use in our adult life - believe me I'm still waiting for the time when I have to use Pythagoras's theorem!!  So if you do anything this hol

The Cafe

Every Sunday me and usually three of my closest friends go to a local cafe - it's become sort of tradition and it really brightens our day! It's nice to have some time - just girls - so we can have a proper catch up and a good old gossip, without anyone eavesdropping on our conversation. We can talk about all manner of things and no one cares, although at some points we do get a little loud, sometimes our laugh is just uncontrollable! :P I don't think I should say much more, because the cafe is our thing. But I just wanted to say; it's a great thing to just have some time away, with some great friends that you know you're gonna have a fantastic time with! So to my girls, Ellie, Christie, Niamh, Yasi and Andrea who have made our times at the cafe so special and fun, Thankies! Time well spent and memories well made . - thegirlwiththekey

Love, Rosie and Relationships! :)

So last night, me and six friends went to the cinema and saw Love, Rosie! It was such a good film and I would definitely recommend it. The film tells the story of Rosie and Alex and how they transitioned from friendship to romance. a concept that sounds much easier than it is, not that I have experience of a situation like that! :P The film got me thinking; 'I want a love story like that' but you can't rush these things; if your thinking about the possibility of a relationship with a friend of yours you have to think about every aspect of it. For the boys; think about why you like her, about whether you would work as a couple, whether she likes you, and whether you're the right guy for her. Don't ever enter into a relationship because you thinks shes hot! For the girls; act yourself - and I know that sounds weird because you're probably thinking who else could I be? But honestly you can only be yourself - when you start to change because you like them or

BALLOONS!!

WAHHOOOO  balloons! everyone loves them!!  They bring such joy and only bring sadness when they deflate or are popped! :(  And I'm telling you they are  the future!! note to self; invent unpoppable balloons that can be blown up again and again!!  They can get anyone up and moving and countless games can be played with them! They are an incredible invention for all the family - this is really starting to sound like a pitch to a company selling balloons!  but honestly you gotta love them because they are just fantastic!! However when they start to deflate they are slightly less impressive - I've just turned 18 and still have the mandatory '18' balloons, mine were silver and very pretty! But of course as any normal balloon they have started to loose shape and now look like a weird ? floating on top of a 1! That ain't normal but I just can't bring myself to pop them!! :/ I also still have the little balloons decorating my living room, and they are happy just

Hugo :D

Greetings, how are we all today?? So last night I watched Hugo, I've never seen it but always wanted to and I wasn't disappointed.H A little background; Hugo is a young boy who lives in a Paris train station and works the clocks, he has no family apart from the automaton, that he is fixing. He has an adventure with his new friend Isabelle to try and discover how to ultimately fix the lives of himself and papa George and those around him. It was such a magical film and one quote stood out and got me thinking; Hugo Cabret: "I'd imagine the whole world was one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount they need. So I figured, if the entire world was one big machine, I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason. And that means you have to be here for some reason, too." How amazing - no one is here just because they are, everyone has a purpose and although you may not have f

for Andrea! :*

We all have that one friend, the one friend who no matter what happens and no matter what mood your in, that just makes you smile!! The one who's laughter is carried on the wind, and makes passers-by jealous because they haven't laughed for that long in years. The girl who sings because she wants too and not because she should, the one who wears every and any fashion and looks great in everything because she has this fantastic fashionista attitude! And although at some points the teachers put her on a 'scale of annoyingness' (:P) she takes it on the chin and you love her for it! shes a great friend who you can talk to about anything (especially the good stuff! :P) and the advice she gives is almost as good as your own, but you need it anyway because nobody can follow their own advice. The girl who, on the train, runs up and down, whilst singing at the top of her lungs to her favourite one direction song and falls just to create a memory!! For all the memories so

This is what the Crazy Wind makes me think of!

So today the UK was witness to Hurricane Gonzalo and there was a minor storm for about 10 minutes this morning and by golly did it rain!! I'm so glad I wasn't on my way to school - I would have literally gone into school and created a lake. And my school isn't waterproof - I found that out the hard way last year when I was waiting for a friend to finish some work after school in one of the ICT rooms and a wall of water blocked the corridor, much to our entertainment, and trapped our teacher in his room; he had to jump through the wall of water to escape! funniest thing! I managed to avoid the rain on my walk to school and the walk back but the wind was ferocious! I was walking with a friend and we both have long hair, which had gained a life of its own as it became a curtain for our faces. We gave up trying to move it away from our faces in the end and I managed to tie mine up!! But as I continued the walk home by myself to the relaxing tune of 'Free' by Ultra N

Waiters and Accents

Don't you just love the waiters who are smiley and fun and you can't understand a single word they say? I have no intention of being rude but when they have these really strong accents that are hard enough to understand by themselves, let alone under the ridiculously loud music they always play in restaurants, it is very difficult. And I know its their job and they can't help their accents because everyone has accents, dependent on where they grew up. And unbeknown to me, even I have an accent, just not one that I would recognise as an accent because I live with it. But it does make me giggle a little when it you're trying to order and they repeat your meal back to you and you just think to yourself  'I have no idea what you just said but' "yeah that's my order" 'and I hope its right'... Then your food comes and its correct and you have the greatest admiration for them because, in your eyes, they can basically speak two lang

Open Evening and Whack Fashion!

Tonight is my school's annual open evening; an evening to entice the young year 6's and their parents and to try and convince them to come to our established establishment. I received an email and was 'thrilled' to hear that the school had chosen the 6th form to help. Okay so less little people, the reasons for this I can understand. And they want us to wear smart formal clothes; and I have to admit I am a little excited... I may be one of few, but I don't mind wearing 'worky' clothes. To be honest its refreshing and me and my friends have agreed that everyone looks better in suits - especially the boys! ;) and you know what; I don't understand why, in today's society boys are seen as more attractive when they have snap-backs and low sitting trousers compared to boys who wear suits. Don't get me wrong the hair is getting better, but some of the male fashions have just gone so whack! And its not just the boys; my school had to clarify in the

Don't you just love sundays?

Surely everyone loves Sundays (apart from the fact that Monday is just one sleep away!); you wake up peacefully on your own and feel that the distorted hateful relationship you have with your alarm clock is some how restored to its 'I-know-you're-only-trying-to-get-me-up-so-I'm-not-late-for-the-day' phase and you wonder why you ever hated it in the first place. You stay lying in your bed and comfortable pyjamas for half the day and it definitely isn't a waste of time at all.  Then you lounge around all day in your most loved tracksuit, with your hair in the messiest bun imaginable. And you feel beautiful because this is the 'you' you love (and not the slightly fake you that has a hard exterior and a bloomin' thick wall to protect you in the outside world - but that is another blog entirely!)  You listen to music and do whatever you feel like... Isn't that just a perfect day? Today mine was a 'little' different; the downstairs bathroo

So hey...

I know you’re supposed to do an introductory blog post, (or that’s what they say) but I don’t like describing myself – it’s really hard! And anyways you can make up your own mind about me! One thing I will say though is that I love using exclamation marks – just so you know I’m not shouting or anything, I just feel it gives a passage of writing more flavour! I’m new to blogging and haven’t really decided on a theme – like I wont be writing about fashion all the time (if at all), I’ll just be writing about whatever I feel like! stay excellent and enjoy! :D - Thegirlwiththekey
